2016 - 2017 NYSTSA Officers
NYSTSA President - Jacob Silcoff
A TSA member since 6th grade, I am extremely grateful to spend my final year of high school serving as president of an organization that has had such great influence on me. I try new events every year, but my favorites are Catapult, Video Game Design, and Debating Technological Issues. When not in TSA, I spend my free time debating, snowboarding, writing for my school's newspaper, and studying foreign languages. As state president this year, I've been working to spread membership and to improve the State Tournament by integrating technology and by working to get better feedback for competitors. I hope to see you in Oswego!
NYSTSA Vice President - Sophia Wang
Williamsville North HS
As a TSA member, I’ve grown to love and appreciate everything TSA has done for me. I’ve been able to learn so much, whether it be about technology or even people skills. I love meeting and interacting with others who are equally as passionate about TSA as I am. My favorite events are Prepared Presentation and Fashion Design. Outside of TSA, I’m involved in a variety of activities. I’m the founder of C3: Code, Create, Collaborate, a Science Olympiad officer, a volunteer advisory board member, and part of my school’s student council executive board. As Vice President, I will work my hardest to ensure that you have the best experience with TSA! I can’t wait to spend the year working with the other NYSTSA Officers! We can’t wait to see you at the 2017 NYSTSA State Conference in Oswego!
NYSTSA Treasurer - Felix Shi
Hello NYSTSA! My name is Felix Shi and I am honored to serve as your state treasurer. I am currently a sophomore at Ithaca High School and have been an active member of TSA since 6th grade. I have previously held positions in my middle school chapter as Secretary, Vice President, and President. My favorite events are System Control Technology and Technology Bowl. However, I think the conferences are the highlight of TSA and it is a great experience meeting members from around the country. Outside of TSA, you can find me playing instruments such as the piano or hitting the tennis courts as a part of my school’s varsity team. Thank you for electing me, and I look forward to the chance to give back to this organization!
NYSTSA Secretary - Francesca Chu
I am a junior at Ithaca High School and I'm so happy to be your state secretary this year. Some of my favorite events are Essays on Technology and Children's Stories, but I love all aspects of TSA. When I'm not doing work for TSA, I enjoy cooking, reading, playing the violin, and doing the layout for the school newspaper. I'm also on the mock trial team and the Brain Team. This year, I hope that we can work together to increase membership, incorporate more events into our conferences, and improve communication between chapters.
NYSTSA Sergeant-At-Arms - Sharon Lin
I am a current senior at Stuyvesant High School, and I've served on the NYSTSA State Officer Team for the past two years. Some of my favorite TSA memories have been National Conferences and competing in Software Development and Problem Solving. Apart from TSA, I'm also involved in organizing StuyHacks, open source software, and filmmaking. I'm excited for the upcoming year, and I hope to see all of you in Oswego!
NYSTSA Reporter - Vaynu Kadiyali
I have been a member of TSA since 6th grade. I joined with the intent of making friends with like-minded, nerdy, STEM-loving and motivated individuals, and 5 years later, I can attest that the community of TSA is my favorite aspect of this organization. My favorite events are those that require research or writing, including Biotechnology Design and Webmaster. Outside of TSA, my favorite hobbies include skiing, playing the flute, writing for my school newspaper, and watching NBA basketball.
